Our Process, Step by Step
Our process is designed to protect your investment, reduce surprises, and deliver a home that reflects your vision. From the first conversation through to long-term care, every stage is structured around transparency, collaboration, and genuine accountability.
Discovery & Project Alignment
We start with a phone call and a Customer Questionnaire. First because we want to ensure we’re the right fit for your project. Secondly, we've learned that rushing into construction discussions too early causes problems down the road. We spend real time understanding your goals, site challenges, and what success looks like for your family before we talk about pricing or timelines. This early conversation helps you understand the full picture from day one, including design complexity, council approvals, and realistic budgeting, so we aligned on expectations rather than operating on assumptions. Design Collaboration & Pre-Construction
We work directly with your architect, consultants, and suppliers to solve construction challenges before we break ground. Early builder involvement means we can spot potential compliance issues, buildability problems, and budget risks when they're still easy to fix rather than become expensive surprises on site. We protect the architectural vision while making sure everything is practical, efficient, and properly detailed for construction.
Detailed Cost Planning
We prepare comprehensive project costing with clear scope clarifications because transparency matters more than winning work with deceptively low numbers. We spend significant time reviewing documentation with our key trades involvement, allowances, and site conditions so you understand exactly what you're getting and why it costs what it costs. Our approach is educational and collaborative. We don't present a number and hope for a signature.
Construction & Site Management
We are a full service building company. Once we start building, we manage all on-site coordination including all trades, scheduling, and quality control and keep the project sites working every day. There are no days, weeks or months with the job sitting idle. We deliberately limit the projects we accept to ensure all our resources are focused on delivering your project. Your project here is our priority. Many of our projects involve complex architectural details or difficult sites, so proactive coordination and calm problem-solving become critical to keeping everything moving. We maintain momentum on site while ensuring the quality standards you expect.
Client Communication & Ongoing Support
Throughout your build, we maintain regular communication about progress, selections, budget tracking, and key decisions throughout our job management platform and direct contact. We take the time to explain what matters most to you so you can make informed decisions without pressure or last-minute surprises. You and your architect receive fortnightly budget reports so you can make timely and informed decisions – not at the end when it's too late to act. Shared site diaries keep you connected to the build without requiring you to be on site. You'll always know where things stand, what's coming next, and how decisions affect your timeline and budget.
Completion & Handover
While many builders complete a defect review at the end of the project, our approach is different. We review and defect work at every stage of construction not just the finishes people can see, but the structural, waterproofing, and concealed work that matters most long-term.
We personally review every detail before handover to ensure finishes, functionality, and documentation meet our standards and your expectations. The final presentation matters enormously to us because this home represents our craftsmanship and your investment. Our relationship doesn't end at handover either, we remain available for ongoing support and follow-up to ensure everything performs as intended.
Custodial Care & Ongoing Support
After completion, we continue supporting you with maintenance guidance, and long-term advice to help your home age well and perform as designed. We see ourselves as custodians of what we've built together, not just contractors who deliver and disappear. Many clients stay in touch years after completion. We've even had new owners track us down after purchasing a Simpson & Co built home – the quality of the work spoke for itself, and they wanted to continue with the same quality builder. That's a level of relationship we're building toward from day one.
