Shane Simpson

CO-FOUNDER, DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION

Shane left school at 16 to become a carpenter — it was all he ever wanted to be as a kid — and worked for many years in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, now in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven. That's over 30 years of hands-on experience, from swinging hammers to managing $8.7 million projects alongside architects, engineers, and specialist trades on some of the region's most complex residential builds. He holds an Advanced Certificate in Building Supervision, Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery, and is a NSW Fair Trading Licensed Builder. But what matters most is where Shane focuses his energy every day: client experience, quality, compliance, and construction standards across every Simpson & Co project. He's the one who ensures that the technical execution never compromises on what we promised. Shane's been doing this long enough to know that the details you can't see are often the ones that matter most.

Leah Simpson

CO-FOUNDER, STRATEGY, BRAND & EDUCATION

Leah has been part of Simpson & Co from the ground up — including years managing the project administration and client communication that Justine now leads. That hands-on foundation shapes how she thinks about strategy, brand, and the client experience today. She's worked alongside Shane since his days as a foreman, which means she understands construction from both the operational and business sides. Leah's focus is on making sure every client interaction reflects the same attention to detail that goes into our construction work. Her background in project administration means she knows what can go wrong in the client experience, and her role in strategy means she's always thinking about how to prevent those issues before they happen.

Justine Suttorini

PROJECTS MANAGER

Justine has been with Simpson & Co since 2012, growing from financial administration into autonomous project management. She's the first point of contact for most clients and manages the full project lifecycle from the office — working closely with Shane and Matthew across tendering, procurement, contracts, budgets, and WHS compliance end to end. What makes Justine different is her eye for detail that goes well beyond the numbers. She's a qualified colour and design consultant, which means she understands both the financial and aesthetic sides of every decision. Over 12 years with us, she's developed an intuitive sense for what clients need to hear and when they need to hear it. Justine keeps everything coordinated behind the scenes so the on-site team can focus on building.

Matthew Mallon

CONSTRUCTION DELIVERY MANAGER

Matthew is a qualified engineer who spent over two decades managing major construction projects with Multiplex — hospitals, public precincts, large-scale commercial builds where there's zero tolerance for delays or shortcuts. He brings that level of operational rigour and site structure to the day-to-day delivery of every Simpson & Co project. Matthew joined our team in March 2025 because he wanted to apply his program management expertise to something more personal than commercial construction. He works across every project with Shane — while Shane ensures standards are never compromised, Matthew ensures the program never slips. His background in complex multi-million dollar builds means he understands how to coordinate trades, manage critical paths, and keep projects moving without cutting corners. Clients appreciate how Matthew anticipates potential issues before they become actual problems.

Luke Simpson

CONSTRUCTION SITE MANAGER

Luke grew up in construction, completing his carpentry apprenticeship in the family building business before earning a degree in Construction Management. He joined Simpson & Co in 2022 as a carpenter — and within a year it was clear his combination of trade skill, site awareness, and communication ability warranted more. He became our Construction Site Manager in 2023. Luke is on site every day — he's the person who keeps trades coordinated, standards upheld, and clients informed about what's happening with their build. His progression through the tools into site leadership means he understands construction from the ground up, not just from a plan. Clients often tell us they appreciate Luke's ability to explain complex construction processes in terms they can understand. He brings the technical knowledge of someone raised in the industry with the communication skills that keep everyone on the same page.

Josh Leenaars

CARPENTER

Josh came to Simpson & Co in 2023 without a background in construction, but with the kind of attitude, work ethic, and attention to detail that can't be taught. We saw someone worth investing in. He's about to complete his carpentry apprenticeship and has been part of our team and our sites every day since. This is exactly what we mean when we say we hire people on their merit and what they can bring to the team — Josh proves that the right mindset and commitment to learning can take you as far as any formal qualification.
